Pros: Inexpensive, Lots of interactive videos, you really can learn piano FAST! It also comes with some great bonuses that really help you on your way. Cons: It takes a little motivation to sit down at your computer and try to learn piano, as opposed to getting private lessons where you are paying to show up somewhere and learn piano...its a different mindset, that's all. Verdict: For the price, this program has everything you will need to learn piano fast. It can't be beat in terms of content and success. I definitely recommend you try it out today! | |

I approached Rocket Piano from the perspective of already playing piano on my own. I had to put on the hat of a beginner piano player in order to fully evaluate how effective Rocket Piano actually is. My conclusion is that if you want to learn piano fast, or improve your current playing ability, buy Rocket Piano TODAY! I am not the best piano player in the world, by far, yet Rocket Piano makes learning and improving your playing as easy as pie.
I will admit, there is a LOT of information to go through when you receive Rocket Piano, it is claimed that there is over 12 months worth of lessons. I am not going to deny that there is a TON of lessons for you to go through, especially if you go at the pace set in the books. You can obviously go faster if you are getting the hang of, but I felt that the pace set by the books was good for almost any learner.
The lessons are made to be fun and I thought that they were definitely better than reading boring piano books or reading websites like mine (I think I need more pictures and videos!) The demonstration videos were really enjoyable and helped me get the concept quickly and easily.
They stress the importance of practicing “smarter, not harder” and this is apparent in the books. It was easy for me to take the ideas they presented and implement them whenever I practice on my own. It really did help me concentrate on the key aspects of my practice time, which I was not doing this before. It would be GREAT for a beginner pianist to learn these methods up front because it will save you a lot of time. Poor practicing can also lead to some bad habits that are hard to shake as you progress in your learning, take it from someone who basically taught themselves to play piano with NO structure to the practice routine at all!
Some may say that the information in this course is mostly recycled material that is reformatted in a nice shiny box...I completely disagree. Yes, the information that the Rocket Piano folks give you makes sense and makes people like me who have been playing for a while think “why didn't I think of it like that before?” Everything that you could learn from another piano course is presented here but it is done in a way that makes it SUPER easy to catch on and create some good, lasting habits.
As far as price point goes, I think that the $39.95 (as of August, 2010) price definitely pays for itself in a matter of minutes. Think about going to a piano teacher and paying that much for ONE 30-45 minute lesson! I took personal piano lessons for about six weeks after I started tentrate on the key aspects of my practice time, which I was not doing this before. It would be GREAT for a beginner pianist to learn these methods up front because it will save you a lot of time. Poor practicing can also lead to some bad habits that are hard to shake as you progress in your learning, take it from someone who basically taught themselves to play piano with NO structure to the practice routine at all!
And as for the bonuses...they are great add-ons to an already great product. The computer software that you receive as a bonus when you purchase Rocket Piano really helps you get your piano game moving! The Rocket Piano Metronome really is useful for timing your exercises and working on tempo. The other software is great too, like Jayde Musica Pro which helps you learn to read sheet music and then there is also a neat tool called the Chordinator which really helps you sight read chords and improve your reading abilities. There are more bonuses, but I will let you check it out to see what all you get!
I absolutely recommend Rocket Piano because it is such a FUN way to learn to play the piano and it is incredibly cheap compared to lessons!
